Capital

At Umoja Preventative, we recognize that poverty and lack of opportunity often leave people vulnerable to trafficking and exploitation. When families are struggling to meet basic needs, they may accept risky job offers or promises that lead to harm.

Through our Capital Pillar, we support individuals and communities with the funding and tools they need to start or grow businesses. This includes everything from daily income activities like selling corn, to larger projects like clinics, libraries, or local markets.

When someone can earn a stable income, they’re less likely to fall into desperation. When a community has access to resources, its members are less likely to be exploited.

By helping people build sustainable livelihoods, we strengthen their ability to stay rooted, support their families, and contribute to their communities. This is how we prevent trafficking at its core — by creating environments where people are empowered and equipped to thrive.
